Almost didn't want to post this up! Why? because the lightning turned my Christmas Tree BLUE! Almost freaked me out i thought my camera bought less then 6 months is failing on me again! The other reason is I'd been blogging for almost 6 months and there isn't any cookie post! so i wanted this very 1st cookie post to be at least almost picture perfect but then my skills in cookies are really bad.. when it comes to rolling and cutting uniform bakes it gets really messy for me! Well you guys will forgive me for these really poor photos won't ya?
See i'm so cuckoo in my haste to post this up i forgotten about the cookies verdict lol~
Ok, the cookies turn out to be very light! refreshing and tangy of course due to the orange zest and the grand marnier brings out the orange smell and taste! very yummy and perfect for all day round!

Grand Marnier Butter Cookies
(adapted and modified from Joy of Baking)
Ingredients
250g unsalted butter, room temperature
2/3 cup caster sugar
1 large egg
Zest of 1 orange
2 tsp grand marnier
2 1/4 cup plain flour
Method
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, orange zest, and grand marnier.
- Gradually add the flour to the creamed mixture and beat until just incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a log that is about 4cm in diameter. Wrap each log in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator until firm (at least 2hrs or overnight).
- Once log is firm, with a sharp knife, slice cookies about 0.5cm thick.
- Preheat oven to 170°C. Line a baking pan with parchment paper. Place cookies on the baking pan, spacing about 5cm apart.
- Bake the cookies for about 10mins, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown. Remove from oven and place on wire rack to cool.

Wah! Blue christmas tree! xD It is still pretty in a way.
I think your cookies turned out okay. I am very bad at the rolling and cutting uniformly part too. Well, practice makes perfect...I guess (mine is still terrible though. Lol).
Btw, love your new layout and the background songs -swaying to the music-
Blue Xmas tree is nice too~ Nice cookies, nice blog layout & nice songs! *^_^*
hungry...hungry, cant wait to bit it haha... thanks for your cookies^^ yummy
Gorgeous cookies! And the tree doesn't look so bad even though it's somewhat blueish. What camera is it you have? I use a Canon and it's been very reliable so far :).
Yummy!!!
I'll love these definately
dun worry jess! they still look great! with regards to the rolling, u can try keeping the cookie dough in those round cardboard holder from kitchen paper napkins (not sure if u know what im talking abt)to make sure they stay round in the fridge.

The cookies look so yummy.
I love grand marnier in cookies..they must have smelt and tasted especially good.
good morning jess. Theese cookies look fine. I'm bad at making cookies, i find it hard to control the temperature for baking them in my small oven. Maybe the dough is not firm enough that's why you find it difficult to shape or cut. Can get 'high' or not eating these cookies? ha!
thanks angel! =)
angie they do smell and taste especially good!
